“So Kara, do you have a boyfriend?” Someone might ask. “Nope!” I would cheerfully say with a smile. Or better yet– “I saw you with that guy the other day. Are y’all dating?” “Nope, we’re just friends.” Or my personal “favorite” — “Are you and so and so still dating?” “No… We never were dating.” Lol! I’ve been asked these questions so many times, my answers are now on auto-response it seems. *Chuckles* Sometimes it feels like we’re living in… Read more »

This post includes affiliate links. You can see my disclosure page here; thanks for your support! When I was around five, my best friend’s family moved hours away from me. I was devastated and didn’t understand why she had to move. Thankfully, our mothers were determined that we would stay in contact. With their help, we began writing letters to each other. Soon, we were able to write the letters ourselves. Now I have shoe boxes filled with these letters from… Read more »

The one concern of the devil is to keep Christians from praying. He fears nothing from prayerless studies, prayerless work and prayerless religion. He laughs at our toil, mocks at our wisdom, but he trembles when we pray.  -Samuel Chadwick A while back I shared in a post about my experience learning about prayer whilst I was in England. {You can read that post here.} Since then, I’ve been thinking about prayer a lot and wanting to learn more about… Read more »

The following is a guest post by Stefani of www.wallsofhome.com My dear single girl friends, I see you being a bridesmaid, again. Watching as your friends get married, one after another. Spending time in an awkward threesome just because you want a little bit of “the old times” with your married friends. Wondering if it will ever be you. Or maybe you’re the hopeful 16 year old little sister, watching your older sister wait and wait as her friends get married and she… Read more »

Dear Internet, I’ve noticed there have been a lot of articles floating around Pinterest, Facebook, and other social media that spew relationship advice, claiming there’s a “one-size-fits-all” way to date. Once upon a time, I would have soaked up all of their advice, wanting to prepare myself for when I would eventually start dating. I browsed Pinterest, reading Christian and secular articles alike, and I couldn’t really find anything conclusive. But after all, no wonder all the advice seemed different… Read more »

When I was 8 I hated my red hair. I didn’t want red hair. I wanted blonde hair, like Cinderella or Aurora. Their gorgeous hair looked so perfect, and I had mega hair envy. When I became a teen, I started memorizing verses about self-image and eventually realized God thought my red hair was beautiful and He made it that way on purpose. Eventually, I came to like it. Occasionally, people (be they friends or random hair stylists) have told… Read more »

As many of y’all know, I attended my first bloggers conference the last weekend in July. Heading into the weekend I felt very nervous. I didn’t know anyone who was going, I knew I was going to be one of the youngest people there, and I was worried about how I was going to get from the hotel to the church were the conference was held, since I wasn’t going to have a car with me. If you’re a part… Read more »

Prefer to watch videos instead of reading? View the video version of this post on YouTube: Heart pounding, I was anything but fearless. Taking a deep breath, I stepped off of the white bus with five fellow students. I glanced up at the tall tree with the orange flowers; it looked so different at night. Peering down the street, I took a deep breath. The house I was staying at during my time studying in Costa Rica was only a… Read more »

Dear friend, I feel like I’ve been MIA lately. Oops. I probably feel that way because I didn’t post on Monday, like I’ve been trying to do this summer, and because I didn’t send out an email newsletter last week… But it’s summer, and I have a gazillion things floating around in my head, and so I’m trying to give myself grace. What have I been up to this summer? Well, let’s see now… Recuperating from my mission trip to… Read more »

The gate slammed shut right as my brother and I reached the front of the line. Four-year-old Kyle stuck out his lower lip and proceeded to grasp ahold of the gate, peering through the wires at the lucky kids who were already able to enter the gate and ride the fun Taz Swings at this Six Flags park. His brow furrowed and he begun to shake the gate as hard as his tiny arms could. “Let me in!” He pouted…. Read more »
