I attended a small Christian private school from the 6th grade until I graduated high school. Sophomore year, we had a new principal who believed a minor infraction was the result of a “heart issue,” as she put it. Not that that idea is necessarily bad in and of itself; the problem was, she used the phrase “heart issue” over and over again in a very negative context. Every Wednesday at chapel, she would remind us of the rules so… Read more »

Hi! I’m Melinda, 37, and an Administrative Assistant for Law Enforcement Training. My hobbies include reading, shopping and spending time with family and close friends. What’s your singleness story? My singleness story began a little over 7 years ago. I was in what I thought was a happy marriage. My spouse cheated on me. During the hardest time in my life I found out who God was and what He was capable of. I had rededicated my life to Him… Read more »

My dear friend, it is time yet again for you and I to take an imaginary trip to the coffee shop to discuss life. Oh man, have I got something exciting to tell you! Brimming with excitement, I order a small caramel frappuccino and you order your drink of choice. Then we wander to a cosy corner of the coffee shop and settle into our chairs. I take a sip of my drink, eyes dancing excitedly. You lean forward in… Read more »

My roommate wants to be a wedding planner someday, so there are lots of bridal magazines and Pinterest-scrolling happening at our apartment. The other day we spent the evening scrolling through our wedding boards on Pinterest, discussing things like veils and first looks and bridesmaids dresses and wedding photography. It was a very girly evening, full of happy, daydreamy ideas. Browsing through the “wedding aisle” on Pinterest can be such a fun way to relax and pass time, but I’ve… Read more »

I am a NICU nurse and I work night shift and when I am in the middle of my stretch I find I can only manage to go to work and sleep. Well, I have been single for the last twenty six years.   Here on Joy Because Grace, we’ve discussed praying for our future husbands quite a bit. We’ve discussed why it’s important, ways we can pray for them, and what we can pray for them. I’ve even created a “Praying for Your Future Husband eGuide” you can grab for free. However, we haven’t really discussed the personal benefits of praying for a man we’ve never met. Now, I’m not saying here that the only reason we should be praying for our… Read more »

Last year I rounded up my favorite singleness/dating videos by Blimey cow and compiled them into a blog post for your viewing convenience. Since then, they have made more hysterically funny videos on this topic, and so I just had to share them with you! :) Some background though, in case you don’t know who Blimey Cow is. Blimey Cow is composed of two Christian brothers who are now somewhere in their twenties (Josh and Jordan), Josh’s wife, and some… Read more »

A few months ago a reader emailed me and asked if I could write a blog post about what it means to give your heart to a guy.

“By the way could you do a blog on what it means to give your heart to a guy? I’m not sure I understand what it all means. Because can’t you give your heart just by your evil thoughts?”
Quite frankly, this question stumped me. Which is why the blog post she requested is just now being published– I had to think about this some!

Hello!!! I’m Diana. I’m a 30 year old girl from South Florida. I work in sales and for fun I like all things creative. I love journaling, writing letters, and making jewelry. What’s your singleness story? My singleness story is so tied to my salvation story that they go hand in hand. Before I knew Christ I was always seeking approval and love from other people. This was especially true in my dating life. If I felt unloved or rejected… Read more »
