“How can I support the pro-life cause when I can’t go anywhere?” one blog reader asked me. Great question! How can we be pro-life during the pandemic? I’ve shared my story of how I became pro-life here on this blog before. I also shared about participating in the 2020 Texas Rally For Life this past January. During the summer of 2019, I volunteered at a pregnancy resource center by helping with childcare while their parents were in parenting classes. I… Read more »

I had an encounter this past Saturday. that made me remember how weird Caleb and I are because we don’t live together. He and I found our wedding bands on Saturday! As I bought Caleb’s ring, I had to tell the attendant my billing address. When it was his turn, she asked, “Same address?” He said, “No,” and started telling her his address. Then the lady looked at us, surprised, “Y’all have been together practically forever and you still don’t… Read more »

Caleb and I got engaged on October 24th :)  I knew it was coming soon because we had bought a ring together about a month before he proposed. Today I want to write about our ring shopping experience. In July 2019, I asked Caleb not to propose until he was 100% positive I would say yes. I didn’t want to not feel ready for engagement and have to tell him no. He agreed and said we could go ring shopping… Read more »

Caleb asked me to marry him on October 24th and our wedding date is January 22nd. As of today (November 30th), we have basically finished our wedding planning. We have a few more tasks to do (I’ll mention those later), but today I wanted to outline how we planned our wedding in one month- because the planning is done. This post includes affiliate links. You can see my disclosure page here; thanks for your support! Quick backstory- Caleb and I started looking… Read more »

Eek! Where to even begin?? If you’re new around here, start off by reading about how Caleb and I didn’t date. Then read the post “So There’s This Guy” to find out how he asked me to be his girlfriend. And if you REALLY want to get personal, go read the post “Transitioning from Singleness to Dating” to read a series of journals from when we first started dating LOL! Okay, so now that we have the backstory out of… Read more »

Back in January, I went to Texas’ Rally For Life. At the rally we heard Clair Culwell, an abortion survivor, speak. My friend Katie told me about Melissa Ohden who is also an abortion survivor and speaks against abortion. Melissa had written a book called You Carried Me and I decided to read it to learn more about her story. Oh. My. Goodness! I could not put this book down! I loved this book so much!   This post includes… Read more »

And Lord, haste the day when the faith shall be sight, The clouds be rolled back as a scroll; The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend, Even so, it is well with my soul. -It Is Well With My Soul, by Horatio Spafford About a month ago, my church met in person for the first time in 22 weeks. Guess what?? My best friend is getting married in a week! Yay!!! 🥳 🥳 🥳 It blows my mind that we are old enough to get married. It was just yesterday that we were playing “pretend wedding!” and now she’s getting married in real life! (This is a picture of me realizing she’s getting married in a week LOL!)   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Kara | Joy Because Grace (@kara_beth17) on Jul 9, 2020… Read more »

Fun fact about me: I used to HATE cleaning the bathroom. It was my least favorite chore of all time. Mostly because my brother and I kept our bathroom counter a mess and so it took FOREVER to clear off the counter and then wipe it down. Not to mention toilets are gross. Another fun fact: I’m the type of person who reads the directions on everything. Including toothpaste. And, c’mon, clearly I know how to use toothpaste. 😅 So,… Read more »

I remember feeling nervous about finding a church in college. My family had only attended one church my whole life thus far, and so freshman Kara had no idea what it was going to be like to visit churches. I attended a small Christian university and I remember my roommate asked me if I wanted to get lunch with some girls from her Welcome Week group. We ended up grabbing Chick-fil-A and then going to a gazebo on campus to… Read more »
