I have a blog.

A beautiful little piece of the internet that I love.

A blog which contains the word “coffee” in her title.

I don’t even really like coffee. The only types I like is a white chocolate mocha or a mocha cookie crumble frappuccino from Starbucks. I don’t think drinking only two types of coffee classifies as a coffee addict.
I honestly prefer hot chocolate. With a pump of peppermint.
Yum.

But “Hot Chocolate with Kara” doesn’t quite have the same ring to it.
And I really do like going out to coffee with people…. I just get water, or, like I said, hot chocolate.

Sometimes a smoothie.

So, anywho, I have a blog.

A blog with over 50 posts now.
Some of the posts honestly aren’t that good. Some are. I love all of them anyways.

Sometimes I can’t even wrap my mind around the fact that I blog and it’s now one of my favorite hobbies.
I’m addicted to perusing through Pinterest, looking for blog tips and ideas.
I love reading other people’s blogs. They’re just so interesting, and I love seeing what they do with their corners of the internet.

I’m a part of a few Facebook blogging communities now, which I absolutely adore. This community aspect of blogging I never would have imagined, and I’m blessed beyond measure by it.

I find myself telling people I know that they should start a blog. (Once I even told a friend that her mom should start a blog!) And they usually look at me like I’m crazy.

Blogging is honestly one of the best, crazy, things that I have ever started doing.

I have learned so much from this endeavor, from {finally} understanding what SEO is, to learning how to work photo shop.

I also have a new found appreciation for social media. Here’s the download:

Facebook the place for blog groups, and Facebook pages. Facebook pages don’t get seen a lot. I have mixed feelings about that.
Pinterest- the place where everybody’s blog posts are located, with pretty pictures and lovely captions.  Non-bloggers rarely realize that this is a fantastic traffic source for bloggers.
Twitter- I don’t really understand Twitter yet. Twitter is like mini-text messages sent out to the whole world. I haven’t really figured out what to say on it… Mostly I tweet about the weather. So if you ever want to know what the weather is like where I live, follow me ;)
Instagram- I love Instagram! It’s such a pretty, happy place. Not only does it contain snap shots of all of my friend’s lives, but I can also follow other bloggers and see what they’re up to. I think that’s awesome.

I have learned what an important tool social media is in marketing. I also now understand the importance of key hashtags.
(Do I use hashtags effectively now? Probably not…)
(Do I still make fun of when hashtags are overused? Absolutely.)

My thoughts on having a blog.

I have a blog.

And this blows my mind.

I have a blog.

Which takes up so much time.
Right now I could be doing so many other things, like watching the next episode of Friends or taking a nap… or actually studying for my classes…

But instead, I’m write a blog post about how I have a blog. #Irony.
And when I’m done writing this post, I’m going to head over to Canva to design the graphic you just saw above. Because pictures are pretty to look at.
And when I actually publish this post, I’m going to post it to my Facebook page and then schedule some tweets about it.

There is so much more to blogging than I would have imagined when I started out six months ago.

Does all the hard work make me regret starting this blog?
Never.

Sure, sometimes I get writers block, but I love blogging too much to quit now. It’s my way of sharing my life with my family and friends and blogger friends and random peoples from the internet (…that sounds creepy. There’s probably a better way of putting that…)

I have a blog.

And often I feel unqualified to have one.

I’m not that crafty. My creative abilities cover coloring books and melted crayon art… and that’s about it.

I don’t have a kitchen to write a food blog… Maybe someday I’ll post a few recipes that I have from my grandfather, but that’s not practical today.

I’m not married, so I can’t offer marriage advice, and I don’t have kids to use as inspiration for a Mommy Blog. (But someday I aspire to be a Mommy Blogger. In fact, my life dream is to be a Mommy Blogger. Mommy Bloggers are awesome.)

So, what the dufflepuds am I doing having a blog?
I have hands to type, and feet to use to go on adventures, and pictures to take, and stories to share.
I have a voice.
Maybe {sometimes} I’ll offer good advice or shine some light on a subject. (At least, that’s what I strive to do.)

I want your life to somehow be changed for the better by reading Coffee with Kara.
A lofty goal? Perhaps.

I have a blog.

And sometimes I think I’m crazy.

If you don’t have a blog, I think you should be crazy too, and start one!

And if you do have a blog, comment your URL below.
I would love to read it :)

Never thought I would be a blogger until I became pregnant with my first….over 3 years ago. That’s how old my blog is and I’ve really come a long way since my first posts. It seems crazy now, to be at the beginning of this relationship with your fairly new blog. It’s even crazier to look back on this time, a few years from now. It’s definitely cool to see any and/or all of these: how much your photography has improved, the different directions you took with your content, improvements in writing, how many connections you’ve made, how bad ass you are at html coding, your increase in readers/visitors and so much more. Good for you for doing something you enjoy. Oh, and “Hot Chocolate” may not sound smooth but “Hot Cocoa with Kara” sounds super. I looooove me a good mug of hot cocoa, too :) -Misty @ http://www.momistabeginnings.com

Yes Kara! I am with you on this one! I also have a blog, and I am a little crazy about it. My life has changed tremendously. It has opened doors for me that I would of been able to have opened without. It has help me gain so much confidence in myself and n my writing.

I feel like I am finally free from holding myself in and trying to blend in with people. My creative juices have been flowing like crazy, and I love it!

So yes I have a blog, and I wouldn’t change it for anything else.

I have a blog, and I am proud.

    xoxo Lizzie
