The one concern of the devil is to keep Christians from praying. He fears nothing from prayerless studies, prayerless work and prayerless religion. He laughs at our toil, mocks at our wisdom, but he trembles when we pray.
-Samuel Chadwick
A while back I shared in a post about my experience learning about prayer whilst I was in England. {You can read that post here.}
Since then, I’ve been thinking about prayer a lot and wanting to learn more about prayer.
I mean, I know that prayer is simply talking to God, but at the same time, I want to learn how to have passionate, powerful prayer sessions.
Today’s post is going to be pretty brief, but I wanted to let y’all know that I’m going to start studying prayer. So when you see a bunch of blog posts here on Joy Because Grace about prayer, now you know why — as I learn and discover things about prayer, I want to share those things with you :)
I’m pretty excited!
So to start off, I wanted to make a list of books about prayer that I want to read during this time of study.
Some of these books I’ve partially read before, some I’ve had recommended to me, and some I just stumbled upon via Amazon and am interested in checking them out. As I read them, I’ll post reviews. :)

I really love Kay Arthur’s Lord, Teach Me to Pray in 28 Days. I learned so much from it! And thanks a lot for sharing; learning more about prayer has also been one of my goals.

The lady that made a big impact on my prayer life is author “Stormie Omartian” The Power of a Praying Woman…and she wrote other such titled books. These were training wheels for many she used scripture to base prayers on..from the late 90’s and still strong in 2016

Hello Kara. These are wonderful books and it does my heart good to read about your journey to understand prayer. I have experienced the power of prayer in my life. I am currently writing a book on it and hope to publish this Fall if the Lord wills. It is called “Unleash the Power of Prayer in your Life.” Prayer breaths life into the lives of every Christian and praying with purpose reveals God’s awesome power. I hope you will be on the look out for it! Have a fantastic weekend and may God bless you in all your endeavors!
