I love using colors in my Bible! And Bible highlighting is such a great way to do that! When I first started reading my Bible on my own back in elementary school, I highlighted every passage I read. Seriously. My Precious Moments Bible had pages upon pages of neon yellow words, simply because my little 8-year-old brain thought you were supposed to highlight what you read. I have since learned that highlighting every sentence isn’t the best Bible highlighting method…. Read more »

I remember feeling nervous about finding a church in college. My family had only attended one church my whole life thus far, and so freshman Kara had no idea what it was going to be like to visit churches. I attended a small Christian university and I remember my roommate asked me if I wanted to get lunch with some girls from her Welcome Week group. We ended up grabbing Chick-fil-A and then going to a gazebo on campus to… Read more »

My family would always sit in the balcony at church. When I was younger, I loved singing the songs and getting to look down at the rest of the congregation on the floor below us. It was fun trying to find my friends in the crowd. Sometimes during prayers, I would peek my eyes open to see what happened. I always thought it was strange how people would magically appear or disappear from the stage during prayers. Oh, they’re waking… Read more »

You know, where you pray for the Spirit to lead you in the right direction and then you close your eyes, flip the Bible open, point to a verse, and then read whatever it is your finger fell on. My first exposure to Bible surfing was in my homeschool spelling curriculum. Random, I know. 😂 I used some sort of faith-based spelling curriculum in 3rd and 5th grade. At the… Read more »

Consistency in meeting with God each day is very important. But why do we think we have to meet the same way every day? For the first two years of dating, my… Read more »

Do you ever struggle with the motivation to spend time in God’s Word? Do you ever forget to read your Bible until you’re drifting off to sleep, only to grab it from your nightstand to read a verse or two before sleep overtakes you? *Raises hand* I’ve noticed that the longer I stay away from the Bible the harder it is for me to get back into it. On the flip side, the longer and more in-depth I go into… Read more »

What starts off as a desire to grow in my relationship with God often turns to discouragement and guilt. You see, I often find myself a day or two behind in my Bible reading plan (or, like right now, a WEEK behind 😳). When this happens, I feel discouraged and like I’m a bad Christian. It makes me want to give up on my reading plan altogether. And all too often I do, falling into a cycle where I barely… Read more »
