What’s your singleness story?

melinda-2My singleness story began a little over 7 years ago. I was in what I thought was a happy marriage. My spouse cheated on me.

During the hardest time in my life I found out who God was and what He was capable of. I had rededicated my life to Him about 2 weeks before finding out that my spouse had cheated.

At the time I didn’t choose to be single, my husband did that for me but now I choose to be, at least for now.

During my time of being single my relationship with Christ has grown, I’ve become wiser and more patient. I’ve learned to wait on God’s timing because He knows the plans He has for me, He knows my future and that’s what I’m holding onto.

So I’m trying to patiently wait on the love of my life, the one God has set aside just for me.

What’s the best thing about being single?

One of the best things about being single is the freedom to come and go as I please. Not that being in a relationship means you’re tied down per say, but you do have to consider your partners needs and wants as well.

melinda-1What’s your biggest struggle when it comes to singleness?

Being lonely, mostly during the holidays. I’m surrounded by plenty of loving friends and family but still have a sense of missing someone.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give your fellow singles?

Take time to figure out who you are so that you don’t lose yourself in a relationship. The most important would be not to settle just for the sake of being in a relationship. There’s nothing wrong with being single. Wait on God’s timing, because it’s perfect.
