Here on Joy Because Grace, we’ve discussed praying for our future husbands quite a bit. We’ve discussed why it’s important, ways we can pray for them, and what we can pray for them. I’ve even created a “Praying for Your Future Husband eGuide” you can grab for free.

However, we haven’t really discussed the personal benefits of praying for a man we’ve never met.

Now, I’m not saying here that the only reason we should be praying for our future husbands is for the personal benefits. I’m going to assume that you’ve already read the “Why We Should Pray for our Future Husbands” post which discusses how praying for our future husbands benefits them and our future marriage. {If you haven’t read that post yet, go read that real quick and then come back. :) }

Praying for our future husbands is a great way to bless them before we meet them, and it's a way we can change our outlook as singles.

Praying for our future husbands can help our outlook on singleness.

Here’s what I mean…

By praying for my future husband, I realize I’m not alone.

That loneliness-while-single thing comes and goes in waves for me. But when the wave of loneliness hits, it hits hard!

When I pray for my future husband, I learn I’m not alone first and foremost because God is with me.

God hears every prayer, every cry of loneliness.

By praying for my future husband, I’m hoping that someday God will bring someone into my life that I’ll spend the rest of my life with. But by praying, I recognize that even if He doesn’t, I already don’t have to be alone.

Loneliness ends when we say “I will” to God, not “I do” to a man.

Praying for my future husband gives me a feeling of usefulness.

Like I mentioned in the “Why We Should Pray for Our Future Husbands” post, if God wants us to be married, then our future husbands are out there, somewhere, experiencing their own struggles right now as you’re reading this.

Praying for my future husband gives me a sense of usefulness as I’m in my season of singleness. It’s something better to do than to just sit around and wait.

Our prayers are powerful. Not because there’s anything special about the prayers or about us, but because our powerful God is the one answering those prayers.

By praying for my future husband, I’m trusting that God has a plan.

I’m trusting that God has someone out there for me, and that He will bring us together at the right time. At the same time, I’m trusting that even if God doesn’t have someone for me and He wants me to be single forever, it’ll be okay.

I may feel like my singleness has no point, but that doesn’t make it true.

Praying for my future husband builds my faith that God will provide, no matter what.

I’m trusting that He will be there for me, no matter what. I’m trusting that God will write me the perfect love story, even if my only one is the Eternal Love Story.

Being single isn’t a punishment.

It’s a season.

And what better way to spend that season than praying for the one we hope to spend the rest of our lives with?

Praying for our future husbands changes our outlook on singleness, because it involves us in God’s plan. God listens to our prayers, and He will provide what’s best for us.

God always fulfills our needs. If we don’t have something right now, we must not need it. If someday we need husband, then we must have faith that God will provide him when we need him.
