Hey y’all! The past two years I’ve written a post on Thanksgiving, listing who I’m thankful for. I wrote these posts while sitting on the couch watching Miracle on 34th Street with my mom. Well, that didn’t happen this year. The past two years, Thanksgiving day was pretty chill, and we would then have our big extended family Thanksgiving that Saturday. This year, we had our big extended family Thanksgiving today. So I had no time to watch Miracle on 34th Street, nor did… Read more »

Once again, I’m in awe of how it doesn’t matter what circumstance we are in, we can still be thankful for our singleness. We don’t need some idealistic, perfect scenario to come true in order for us to give thanks to God for singleness. Our circumstances may change and our histories may be starkly different, but our God is the same. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never been in a relationship before. It doesn’t matter if you’ve recently come out… Read more »

Being thankful for singleness is HARD y’all. I’m not going to pretend that it is easy. And several of the girls who have shared in this series would agree with me. By reading the responses of the girls who shared in this series, it has become easier for me to see why I can be grateful for singleness. I pray that soon it will be second nature. Through this series, I have read accounts of girls for whom it seems easy for… Read more »

I used to feel silly when I would “pull the God-card” when asked “Why are you still single?” As if my response of “It’s not a part of God’s plan for me right now, so I’m learning to trust Him and praise Him in this season,” was inadequate or lame in someway. In the same way, I used to feel silly when I thought about if I was thankful for being single if the only reason I could think of… Read more »

Not only are their so many unique circumstances surrounding the ladies who answered the question “Why are you thankful for singleness?” but there are also many unique answers as well. I mean, sure, “I can have a better relationship with God,” and “I can get to know myself better,” are common themes through out the answers, but there is also so much more than that. So much honesty and thought have been put into these answers. I think it’s interesting… Read more »

Something I’ve loved about reading all these responses to the question “Why are you thankful for being single?” is that no two of us are in exactly the same circumstance. For instance, today we’re hearing from someone who just came out of a two year relationship, a teenager, someone whose love married someone else, someone who has gone through divorce… just to name a few! :D No two of our stories are exactly the same. There may be similar circumstances… Read more »

Last week I emailed those who are a part of the Joy Because Grace Newsletter and asked them if they’re thankful for being single. Their responses completely blew me away! I’m learning so much from them, and I hope you do too! :) Over the next few days and weeks leading up to Thanksgiving, you’ll be seeing several of these “Why I’m Thankful for Singleness” posts. I hope they inspire you to sit and think about if you’re thankful for… Read more »

Last Sunday I arrived at my church about 5 minutes after the service had started and the praise team was singing “Great are You, Lord.” I smiled to myself. Awe I love this song! We sang it at Declare! I slipped into a pew at the back and began to sing along. The sermon that day was about how God meets our needs. It was based on Matt. 6:25-34.  Have you ever sat in a sermon where it feels like the pastor is… Read more »

When You don’t move the mountains I’m needing You to move When You don’t part the waters I wish I could walk through When You don’t give the answers As I cry out to You I will trust, I will trust I will trust in You –“Trust in You” by Lauren Daigle Lord, I praise You. Your ways are not my ways, and neither are Your thoughts my thoughts. You have a plan far bigger than I can ever imagine…. Read more »

And it’s Thanksgiving again. The time for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, turkey shaped cookie, football, food and pre-black Friday sales. Oh, and it’s a day of giving thanks. We mustn’t forget about that. As Christians, we’re called to make thanksgiving a way of life. Thanks is something we should give everyday of the year. I’ve learned a lot about thanksgiving this year, such as how we can give thanks in the hard times, why we should give thanks, and even how… Read more »
