I love reading about how fellow bloggers entered the magical world of blogging. Every story is unique and special, and today I’m going to share how Coffee With Kara came about.

So sit back, relax, and enjoy!

Once Upon A Time…

In tenth grade English when my class and I were reading Ivanhoe, our awesome teacher told us that we were going to do a project to go along with the book. We were going to draw a character’s name out of a hat, and then for the next month we were to blog from that character’s point of view. We also did lots of other fun activities to go along with the book, but I remember loving learning how to create a blog.

Ever since that class, I stored the idea of creating a blog in the back of my mind.

Sometime junior year, I got a Pinterest account, and quickly fell in love with the world of pins and repins. And the beautiful thing about Pinterest is that it’s basically just a giant portal to different blogs. So through Pinterest, I began to read blogs more and I slowly realized that this could actually be a possibility for me.

When I was a senior, the movie Mom’s Night Out {AKA- Best. Movie. EVER!} was released. In the movie, the main character Ally is a beginner mommy blogger. After watching the movie, I became convinced that someday I will become a mommy blogger myself.

Then I started college, and I began to wonder if I could possibly start a blog now…

So, one day in September, I mustered up the courage to voice my thoughts to my best guy friend: “I think I want to start a blog.”
And he said something along the lines of: “Okay, do it!”
We talked a little bit more about it, and by the end of the conversation I couldn’t wait to create my blog! That night, I signed up for blogger, created {Chosen} {Holy} {Loved}, and on September 14, 2014, I published my first blog post. It wasn’t very good, but it was a start.

A few weeks later, I found out about Weebly. I checked out their set up and loved the easy drag and drop feel of the posts. So, I made the decision to switch {Chosen} {Holy} {Loved} over to Weebly.

Around the same time, I constantly searched Pinterest for blogging tricks and tips. I also searched different post ideas, because I had no clue what to write about.

Back then, not very many people read my blog. I became very excited if I got so many as twenty page views in a day. I still remember the day someone other than a family member commented on my blog. Beth completely made my day. I jumped up and down, squeezed, and quickly texted my best guy friend to share the news.

Around Thanksgiving 2014, I became more focused on growing my blog readership. I started using Twitter, and I created a Facebook page for my blog. More importantly, I started slowly overcoming my fear of telling my friends that I blog.

In January 2015 I decided to kiss {Chosen} {Holy} {Loved} goodbye, move my blog to WordPress, and rebrand to Coffee With Kara.

WordPress is kinda confusing at first. Just so you know.
And I was completely overwhelmed.
Eventually, I figured out the basics and now I love WordPress.

So now you know how Coffee With Kara was born!

Yay!! :)
