Spending your Valentine’s Day as a single can be hard, but it doesn’t have to be. In fact, for years Valentine’s Day has been one of my all-time favorite holidays, even when I was single.

The red and pink hearts.
The candy conversation hearts that kinda taste like chalk.
The lace.
The roses.
The chocolates.

*Sighs.* I absolutely love everything about it! :)

I’ve loved Valentine’s Day for as long as I can remember. In fact, the concept that not many people love Valentine’s Day as much as I do came as a shock to me as I grew up.

There seems to be this misconception that Valentine’s Day has to be miserable if you don’t have a significant other.

Lies.

Spending Valentine’s Day as a single girl can be really difficult, or it can be one of the best days ever! It all depends on your perspective. :)

Today, we are going to discuss how we can have an AMAZING Valentine’s Day as single girls.

How To Have An Amazing Valentine’s Day as a Single Girl:

Spending Valentine's Day as a single can be rough, but here are 7 great ways to make this Valentine's Day AMAZING, even if you don't have a significant other

1. First off, recognize that there is a guy who loves you.

My friend, you do have a significant other, even if you aren’t dating or married.

His name is Jesus.

Now, I don’t say this to be churchy or cliché. But c’mon now! We as girls so often forget that Jesus Christ is our first love. He loved us before anyone else did, and He thinks we’re to die for. Literally. :)

I hate it when I see girls who are sad around Valentine’s Day because they believe no guy could or ever will love them and they will be forever single. I wish I could grab them all by the shoulders and exclaim, “JESUS LOVES YOU!!” but that might be a little extreme. ;)

Anywho, the first step to having an AMAZING Valentine’s Day as a single is to spend time with your first love.

  1. Schedule in some extra time with Jesus in the days leading up to February 14th and especially on Valentine’s Day itself.
  2. Pray about your frustrations with being single. Take all your concerns to Him.
  3. Read His love letter to you (AKA the Bible) and reflect on His love. So many of the Psalms speak about God’s steadfast love, so maybe you could read those during this month.
  4. Memorize Zephaniah 3:17-

The LORD your God is in your midst,
A mighty one who will save;
He will rejoice over you with gladness;
He will quiet you by His love;
He will exult you with loud singing.

We should spend Valentine’s Day {and even in the days leading up to Valentine’s Day ;) } celebrating the love that Jesus has for us and how much we love Him back.

2. Hang out with friends

Grab your fellow single friends who won’t have any other plans on February 14th and make a day of it!

  • Get some frozen yogurt!
  • Go for a walk!
  • Eat a Valentine’s Day donut!
  • Have a movie night! (Pride and Prejudice, anyone?)
  • Paint your nails!
  • Play a board game!
  • Have a Valentine’s Day gift exchange!

The sky is the limit on the fun ways you and your girlfriends can make Valentine’s Day AMAZING.

Oh! And don’t forget to tell them you love them. After all, this is a day of celebrating love :)

3. Hang out with your family

If you live with or close to your family, go spend time with them! If not, you could always give them a call (or shoot them a text, if phone calls aren’t your thing) just to tell them you love them. This is a great way to spend Valentine’s Day as a single :)

4. Babysit

Know of a married couple who has kids? Offer to babysit for them for free on (or around) the 14th so they can have a Valentine’s Day date.

This will give you a fun way to spend your evening, and a great way to bless someone else.

On that note…

5. Serve somewhere

Another way to make your Valentine’s Day AMAZING is to volunteer your time blessing someone else.

My church does a “parent’s night out” every year around Valentine’s Day, and last year I was able to help watch the kids at the church. Maybe your church does something similar, or you could maybe start something similar.

Regardless, be on the lookout for how to bless someone else this Valentine’s Day.

6. Hang out by yourself

Sometimes all a girl needs is a chill night by herself, so here are some ideas for what you could do…

  • Grab some popcorn and candy and have a movie night with yourself.
  • Write in your journal.
  • Listen to your favorite tunes.
  • Paint your nails.
  • Read that book you’ve been wanting too.
  • Ect. {You know how you like to pamper yourself ;) }

7. Pray for your future husband

Since the weeks leading up to Valentine’s Day can tend to lead us to imagine the future anywho, why not redirect your thoughts into a prayer for your future husband?

Praying for your future husband is so important because it blesses him right now in the moment {maybe he’s struggling with singleness too?} and it builds the foundation of you praying for him in y’all’s future marriage.

In fact, I’ve even written up an eGuide for you that contains 5 sample prayers you could pray for your future husband during the days leading up to Valentine’s Day. You can access the FREE eGuide by clicking here.

Valentine’s Day is going to be what we make of it. If we have a horrible, “why me?” attitude, then we will have a horrible Valentine’s. However, if we make the most of it and look for ways to make it fun, February 14th will be absolutely AMAZING!

Here’s to making Valentine’s Day 2017 the best one yet!
